Intro
If
you want me to be perfectly honest, I have not explored All Time Low
extensively besides the casual one-off listen to Dear Maria, Count Me
In. Based on this album alone however, the band can kick ass more than
most these days- and how can I be so surprised, when the album is
produced by legendary Goldfinger singer John Feldmann. This album feels
like a nice cold glass of water at 3am. This is why, and this is my Punk
Rock Pick.
Thoughts & Feelings?
Upbeat
and poppy- this album is classic 2000’s pop punk. Jingly and bouncy
riffs that you just can’t help but smile against. The overall feel of
this album has a general cheerful vibe, especially with the softer songs
like Something’s Gotta Give, Cinderblock Garden, and Don’t You Go. I
personally prefer the more gritty songs such as Satellite, Kicking &
Screaming and Don’t You Go. Not every song lands perfectly on their
feet however, and some are very forgettable (Runaways, and Tidal Waves
unfortunately, since it features the GOAT Mark Hoppus, Dancing With A
Wolf, The Edge of Tonight). This whole album is a very easy listen- it
does nothing exceptional, but it does almost everything right. Every
song is exactly what you’d expect it to be. Whether that’s good or bad
is up to you.
If you enjoy the cruise, this album is for you. If you want something a little more complicated, stay away.
Smash or Pass?
Satellite – Super smash
Kicking & Screaming – Super smash
Something’s Gotta Give – Get drunk first, then smash
Kids In The Dark – Probably smash
Runaways – Get super drunk first, like 12 beers deep, then smash
Missing You – Guilty pleasure smash
Cinderblock Garden – Slow smash
Tidal Waves – SUPER pass, can fall asleep to this
Don’t You Go – Smash EVERY FUCKING DAY
Bail Me Out – Smash, but only during the chorus
Dancing With A Wolf – Pass, totally forgot about this song
The Edge of Tonight – Super pass, forgot about this one too lmao
Old Scars / Future Hearts – SUPER smash
Conclusion
This
album is VERY fun. If you’re at a party and need something to throw on,
this is a great choice. It has dancy pantsy moments, slow dance
moments, and everything in between. This album is an easy A tier
for me. It’s not for everyone, but it’s so easy to listen to that I
can’t help but throw it on once in a while and smile the entire time.
What are your thoughts? Give the album a listen and let me know!
