Intro

I am super depressed today so I'm going to review Master of Puppets. This isn't going to be a very long or detailed review so I'm very sorry- just wanted to get this one out of the way because of a bad day.

This album is amazing. Not as good as Ride the Lightning but easily the 2nd greatest Metallica album ever. There are many great songs on here, and a lot of little nuances to love and appreciate.

Thoughts & Feelings?

This album makes me feel like I'm in the sweatiest mosh pit in the entire world. It's just a giant vat of teenage sweat as all of us slowly die due to headbanging too hard.

I love this album, it's been one of my favourites for a while. You'll see what I mean in the smash or pass below.

Crazy for me to think that these guys were only in their early 20's when they were making this sort of shit. Really makes me think like what the fuck am I doing with my life? I'm not doing anything as productive or as cool as they are.

Smash or Pass?

Battery - Fucking smash bitch, this song is my 2nd favourite on the album. I love the heavy riff, it's fast and high action- it just kicks ass all the way and has so many good parts and solos. Hell yeah.

Master of Puppets - Greatest fucking smash of my life, this is my all time favourite song and it's been that way for a while. This song is so amazing, every single guitar riff is amazing in this one, and that fucking interlude with the James Hetfield solo drives me up the fucking wall. This is easily the greatest song of all time in my personal opinion. Breakdown is also fucking sick, Kirk Hammett solo is insane, etc etc.

The Thing That Should Not Be - Smash as hell, this song is so fucking heavy it's unbelievable. Call of Ktulu part 2 by the way. This song is awesome and has a lot of droning parts which I love. This song is crazy heavy and goes way harder than it needs to. It's awesome and I have no complaints. It's a little slower than the last ones but it just sounds so fucking cool that it makes up for it. The solo is pretty fucking wild in this one too.

Welcome Home (Sanitarium) - Smash as all hell, you know all of these are gonna be smash? Right? This is another slow one but I fucking love this song. It's so ominous and droning, it's great. I love everything about this song. I especially love the solos in this song, because they aren't crazy they're just kind of melodic rather than as fast as humanly possible. Pretty great and super catchy song. Oh I guess besides that last solo, that kinda goes as fast as possible.

Disposable Heroes - Smash as all hell, I think this one is super underrated. Have you ever actually attempted to play that gallopy E ripper after the intro? Holy shit that stuff is harder than me after looking at Margot Robbie. Super fucking challenging to get it correct, but it's awesome. I really love this song a lot, there's so much to love for someone like me because of how fast it goes. I love fast heavy songs, and this is definitely one of the fastest. Super catchy chorus too.

Leper Messiah - Smash. I'm not super into this one but it's still pretty cool anyway. The main chorus gets stuck in my head every single time I think about that song so I'm pretty fucking annoyed but that's fine. It's a great song and I can't think of many reasons to not like it. It's just not really my song. Still a great piece of art however.

Orion - Smash. This is another song I'm not super into. But I have all the respect in the world for Cliff Burton, he is an absolute monster and machine when it comes to songs like these. I love this song, but I wouldn't actively listen to this unless I'm listening to specifically this album.

Damage, Inc. - Smash. The final song on this album, and this is a good one. I really like this one, and it honestly sounds like it comes from And Justice for All based on the structure of the opening riffs. I do love this one but it's not enough to make the top 3. Great song however. Great way to end off this album.

Conclusion

This album is amazing. Give it a listen because it's probably the most influential metal album of all time in my personal opinion. This one is an easy S tier despite some songs that I think are a little boring, they all have their own benefits and make it worthwhile to listen to.

RANK: S

Really sorry about a half-assed review today, just not having a good day and I needed to get this one out. I figured I would do one of my favourite albums to cheer me up a little bit and give a little bit more of an objective look at things. What do you guys think? You all having an okay day? I hope so. Love you all.
