Pre-Intro

Hey guys. Lately I've been checking the numbers and it's honestly surprising to me that people actually read my shit posts. Who are you guys? Why are you reading this? How did you find me? Just some questions I have since I can't imagine more than 5 people actually looking at these posts daily. Just wanted to say hello there, thank you so much for stopping by- I post articles every single day at 10am if you're interested in more stuff and feel free to leave a comment saying hi! I love chatting about music obviously and would love to hear from some of you strangers. Anyway yeah, thanks a lot for listening to my brief chit chat. Let's get on with the review!

Intro

Hey hey Sum 41 again, let's fucking go. I did Chuck a few weeks back and so now I figured I'd do the iconic album All Killer No Filler. I already know this album is going to be great, and I'm really looking forward to listening to these songs. Going into this album I already know In Too Deep and Fat Lip obviously, but I'm excited to hear the other songs. Shoutout to Canada, one of us baby let's go. Kay- let's get into it!

Thoughts & Feelings?

I mention this a lot in the smash or pass section but holy fuck does this band have big Green Day vibes. This album was released 3 years before American Idiot and if I didn't know that, I'd even argue this album was inspired by that masterpiece. Holy shit do some of these songs give me major Green Day vibes and it's awesome.

This album makes me feel like I'm in an alternate universe where Sum 41 released Nimrod instead of Green Day. It's a very... weird universe but whatever- that's how shit is these days. I don't really know man, don't ask me to elaborate further.

Smash or Pass?

Introduction to Destruction - Smash. Not really a song just some bells and Satan speaking in my ear. Love to hear it.

Nothing on My Back - SMAASSHH. Starting off fucking strong cause this song sounds absolutely sick. This song is super unique and doesn't fall into the trap of sounding absolutely identical to every other punk rock song so that's nice to hear. The guitar sounds great and gives me big Green Day vibes which is nice to hear. This song sounds like that one off 21st Century Breakdown, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. Pretty cool. Anyway yeah this song is fucking sick, also gives me some Bowling for Soup vibes I think.

Never Wake Up - SMMAAAAAASSSHHHHH. Oh man this gives me so many vibes. This is like old school hardcore punk just fast and crazy it's fucking awesome. This song is absolutely sick and SO fucking punk rock. It's awesome but the chorus is kind of a low for me. Other than that this song is fucking sick. Also short as FUCK.

Fat Lip - SMMMAAAASSSHHHHH. Of course. Naturally thing song is going to be fucking high up there, it's just amazing. I'm really not into rap or anything but whatever. The fucking GUITAR LINE IN THE BACK DURING THE VOCALS GETS STUCK IN MY HEAD SO FUCKING OFTEN- HOLY SHIT. Absolutely insane. This song is so good, so catchy, everything fucking works so well.

Rhythms - SMASH. This is a pretty fucking good song but I'm not crazy into it. It's not as crazy and punk rock heavy as I usually like, it's got more of that "pop punk" style going for it which is fine and all. I just want it to be a little heavier. Great fucking song regardless though. Super good and I have nothing bad to say. This is a great song.

Motivation - SMAAAAASSSHHHHH. Oh FUCK I love this one it sounds sick. Honestly this band is such a Green Day vibe, it's surprising to me that I haven't explored them more. They share the same kind of sound and I fucking love it, especially with this song. I really enjoy this one cause it's just so fucking catchy. Absolutely amazing. This is probably my sleeper pick of the album.

In Too Deep - SMMMMAAAASSSHHHHHH. Of course of course. What do I have to say about this song? Absolutely nothing- it's all been said. This song is great, catchy as fuck, absolutely amazing. Holy fuck that solo though, I tried learning it and it's definitely a tricky one. I gotta practice that shit again.

Summer - SMMAASSHH. Amazing song. Super catchy. At first I was hoping for more hard core punk rock songs but honestly I'm pretty content listening to this shit, it's pretty fucking good. These songs are absolutely catchy, they're easy to listen to and they have your standard punk rock elements that make you want to listen to more.

Handle This - SMMAASSSHHH. Sick ass transition. This is a bit of a slower song for these boys but that's okay that's much needed on albums sometimes. This is no exception, it's the perfect tempo for this section of the album. Much needed to slow the pace and it also sounds fucking great.

Crazy Amanda Bunkface - Smash. This one is pretty fucking good but I don't know what it is, this just puts me on edge for some reason. It's a good song, don't get me wrong but I'm just not crazy about it. Whatever, good song let's move on.

All She's Got - Smash. Yeah this song is alright but it's pretty obvious we're getting into the low tier of the album. This song is pretty decent though. It's just kind of mid.

Heart Attack - SMASH. This song is much more like it. Super fun and whammy jammy. Waking up is hard to do, that's fucking hilarious lmao. Anyway yeah this one is pretty neat cause it's kind of slower with this nice clean guitar tone, that's cool to hear.

Pain for Pleasure - SMASH. Sick ass fucking guitar and those HARMONIZED GUITAR PARTS holy shit that's fucking sick. Apparently this song is an homage to Iron Maiden. Amazing. Absolutely fucking love it. I don't think I would have enjoyed this song this much if I didn't know that beforehand. This song was written in 10 minutes while on the toilet. Fucking hilarious. Super heavy and you'd NEVER think this is a Sum 41 song. Super good.

Conclusion

Sum 41 are fucking sick. I need to desperately get really into them because every time I listen to them I'm fucking happy. This album is no exception. This album is absolutely fantastic, I loved it. It's your standard punk rock songs that are good and work well throughout the album. Not a lot for me to say here, just some good songs.
