Intro

Shoutout to my dad, he asked me to do this one. I'm not a huge Foo Fighters guy, but my dad is- and I fucking LOVE Dave Grohl. This album released today (I'm writing this on Friday), so naturally I have to check it out. I am expecting to not fall in love with this album, but I am expecting to enjoy it. Shoutout to Taylor Hawkins, you absolute fucking legend may you rest in peace. Let's get into it.

Thoughts & Feelings?

This album makes me feel like I just ordered McDonald's, I leave and go home and finally get home ready to eat but they forgot all of my food. It's just an empty bag full of ketchup and salt packets, they fucking forget all of my food and I'm just sitting there like god dammit I knew this was going to happen, I should have just stayed there and made sure they got my order right but they forgot everything, god dammit. Oh well. Don't ask me to elaborate further.

Sorry dad, I'm not really into this song. It's just so generic. Foo Fighters is a band I could never really get into because they don't do anything interesting. Their songs are very basic and without flavour, I'm just really not into them. Sorry to all you Foo Fighters fans, I have nothing but absolute respect for the band, I just don't want to listen to them. I prefer their fast heavy aggressive Nirvana style songs, but this album doesn't have this. Just your standard generic rock songs that I wish had a little bit more to them.

Smash or Pass?

Rescued - Smash. Not IMMEDIATELY in love with this song but it sounds good regardless. Definitely sounds like a Foo Fighters song, but it's pretty average to me. I don't think I'd really ever put this song in my playlist just because it's a pretty generic Foo Fighters rock song. The bridge was nice to hear, that was pretty good but it's not that crazy heavy fast punk rock style that I enjoy squeezing out of the Foos. This song is definitely something my dad would enjoy though, so no surprises there. Yeah just overall your standard song, no surprises just yet.

Under You - Smash. Immediately liking this better than the last song just because of the general upbeat and faster vibe. Yeah this one is also pretty generic too however. It sounds like a great song honestly I just don't see me listening to it outside of this album once in a while, or probably on my dads playlist. I'm going to mention him a lot since he's the biggest fan on the planet, but yeah this is definitely his style. It's like an easy going rock song.

Hearing Voices - Smash. I don't really like this much as Rescued. It's just a little off but I can still enjoy and vibe to this song it's not bad or anything I just don't see myself wanting to listen to this song in the future. This song is so strange though because I'm just freaked out, it feels like a ghost story. It's one of those weird situations- like wearing clothes from a relative that passed away. Just kind of... eerie. Anyway yeah I'm not crazy into this song it's just meh for me.

But Here We Are - Smash. The guitar tone is really sick to hear, never quite heard anything like that before. Pretty awesome to hear. It's hard for me to enjoy these songs just because they are so Foo Fighters-esque. I'm not the biggest fan so I can't really enjoy the little nuances that long time fans can. From an outside perspective- I have nothing wrong with this song and every song so far, it's just not for me. I love Dave Grohl to death, but I'm just not crazy about his music very much.

The Glass - Pass. This is a much slower song and I'm really not into it. Like yeah it's enjoyable and all I just don't want to listen to this song. Like it's really challenging for me to review this album and these songs because you really need to be a Foo Fighters fan to feel happy about these song. Either that or it's just I don't like this genre. Not entirely sure but I just need some more energy out of these songs. Maybe it's just because this is my first time hearing these songs that they're just unfamiliar to me but nothing is jumping out to me, just asking me to put a song in my playlist. Like I really want to like Foo Fighters, but honestly I just don't see a reason yet. They have some good songs but I'm just not crazy about them.

Nothing At All - Smash. This song is at least better than the last song so it's got that going for it. Actually I quite like this song. This is easily the best song so far just because it's a bit faster and harder than the last songs. This at least has that jammy aspect that is going to stick in your head. They really need to bring it home during the last section- and they did it perfectly. This is actually a good song and I enjoy this one pretty good. Yeah that one I enjoyed a lot.

Show Me How - Pass. Shoutout to Violet Grohl. This song is super slow and does not fit the genre of the album but I think that's kind of on purpose. This song is just so boring to me. I want a little more guitar and a little more action going for it. This is just a generic slow clean rock song that I wish had a little more substance to it. I don't think I ever want to hear this song ever again to be honest it's just so boring.

Beyond Me - Pass. Slow. Generic. Cool solo though.

The Teacher - Pass. I''m pretty much over this album already. This song goes on for way too long and doesn't do anything interesting.

Rest - Pass. Same old, same old.

Conclusion

I'm not a Foo Fighters fan. I wish I was but I cannot be. These songs are just so generic and slow, boring, uninteresting. I'm so sorry dad, you said this album is great- I respectfully disagree. This album is boring. I want something interesting to happen, but nothing interesting happens. I am not into this, I'm going to lie to your face tomorrow morning and say "Yeah it was an okay album", but inside I'm going to be like this was the most boring album I've ever heard in my life. So sorry dad. Not a Foo Fighters fan. Going to give all 3 medals to the only song I cared about on this album.
