Intro

Okay okay okay I know what you're thinking. You're thinking either 1 of 3 things. The first thing you might be thinking is "HOLY SHIT SHARKY DID ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW OH MY GOD I LOVE THAT MOVIE". That's great, shout out to you knowledgeable reader. The 2nd thing you could be thinking is "What the fuck is this? This isn't punk rock, this isn't metal or anything? This is a god damn fucking musical, fuck this shit"- to which I say hold on hold on hold your fucking horses. Calm your shit down. This is a GREAT musical, easily my favourite of all time besides The Cat in the Hat 2003 featuring Mike Myers if you count that as a musical. Anyway, yeah this is a musical it's not very punk rock or anything but it has elements of that so hold your fucking horses and give this shit a change. It's a great musical, I highly recommend the movie. The 3rd thing you could be thinking is "Holy shit that's a lot of people". to which I say yes, yes it is. ANYWAY what do I think? Let's get into it.

Thoughts & Feelings?

I'm so fucking happy I have an excuse to talk extensively about this musical. This is honestly one of my favourite movies of all time. Yes, this review isn't going to be very punk rock or anything but I think it extends much more than that. The IDEAS are there, and Mr. O'Brien is certainly punk as fuck for his ideas and thinking to conjure this masterpiece into existence. The idea that this musical is about a transvestite alien having sex with humans on Earth in an escape from his planet of transexual is the fucking funniest shit ever, and holy fuck this was made in FUCKING 1975, HOLY FUCK is this shit like... literally so fucking ahead of it's time. Like I think it's fucking hilarious. It's amazing.

This album makes me feel like I'm in the R rated gay version of Dracula. It's basically what this is. It's like a porn parody of Dracula, but with aliens instead of vampires. It's fucking hilarious. Anyway yeah don't ask me to elaborate further.

I HIGHLY recommend you to watch this movie. The original one from like 1975, that shit is so fucking good. It's literally a perfect movie. I fucking adore it. Anyway yeah PLEASE give this movie a chance, it's one of my fucking favourites.

Smash or Pass?

Science Fiction/Double Feature - SMASH. One of the most iconic opening sequences of a movie of all time. Holy FUCK is this a great opening and a great fucking song. The lyrics might make absolutely no sense, but to me after hours and hours and hours of studying, everything makes fucking sense. Anyway yeah this is such a great fucking song and gets me so god damn hyped for this album / the movie. I want to talk a lot less about the movie and more about the musical narrative. Shout out to the Triffids, my grandma loves that book.

Dammit Janet - Smash. This is a banger but I'm not super super into it. Like it's a great song but honestly I prefer the other more gay songs, those are fucking GREAT.

Over at the Frankenstein Place - SMMMMAAAAAAASSSSSSHHHHHH. HERE WE GO BABY. This is where shit really picks up. This song is so FUCKING good. This song is much better in the actual movie but regardless it's fine it's fine. I fucking love this shit regardless. Shout out to the best character in the movie by boi fucking RIFF RAFF BABY. He is such a great fucking character and literally a fucking genius. The entire soundtrack and play is written by Riff Raff, Mr. Richard O'Brien baby, let's go. Anyway yeah this song is so fucking good. It is the perfect mix of tension and excitement for exploration and hope. I love how many fucking instruments there are, let's gooooo.

Time Warp - SMASH. Of course you've heard this fucking song before. You probably hear it every fucking year on October 31st. Shoutout to Riff Raff, fucking love you so much my dude he's the best. This is just such a good fucking rock and roll hit, this honestly is just so fucking funny and good. You just CAN'T help but laugh and sing during this absolutely absurd track. Especially with the fucking narrator getting involved, that shit is fucking hilarious. Also this version is different from the movie version, Magenta is much better in the movie version.

Sweet Transvestite - SMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH. LET'S GOOOO BAAABBYYYY, TIM CURRY. I fucking LOVE Tim Curry. This song is SO FUCKING GOOD. This song is meant to make you feel so fucking uncomfortable, but at this stage in my life I think it's fucking perfect. "WELL YOU GOT CAUGHT WITH A FLAT WELL... HOW 'BOUT THAT" HOLY FUCK IS THAT NOT THE GREATEST FUCKING LINE IN HISTORY, Tim Curry delivers it fucking PERFECTLY. It's fucking hilarious. 2nd best song in my opinion.

I Can Make You a Man - SMMMMMMAAAAAASSSSHHHHH. This is what I meant when I said I like the gay songs. I just think they're fucking hilarious and so good. Maybe i just fucking love Tim Curry, that could be the possibility as well. This shit is so fucking catchy.

Hot Patootie – Bless My Soul - SMMMMMAAAAAAAAASSSSSSHHHHHHH LET'S GO MEAT LOOAAFFFF BABBYYYYYYY. Shoutout to you Meat Loaf, I fucking loved him. Anyway yeah the movie version is better than this soundtrack version too so make sure to watch the movie. This song is so fucking good though. Literally prime rock and roll from the 70's, it's awesome. Can you believe this musical had fucking Meat Loaf singing and playing sax, what the fuck? That's awesome. Anyway yeah, love to see it. The lyrics of this song are so fucking good. Shoutout to you Buddy Holly.

I Can Make You a Man (Reprise) - SMAAAASSSHHHHH. This is the same as I Can Make You a Man, it's just the continuation. I fucking LOVE this because Janet (Susan Sarandon) gets involved and it's the beginning of the downfall for her character. It's a fucking great foreshadowing. So fucking good.

Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch-a, Touch Me - SMMMMAAAAAASSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH SHOUTOUT TO YOU SUSAN SARANDON. I fucking LOVE this song. I fucking LOVE Susan Sarandon, she's fucking amazing. Also super hot in this movie so that's nice to see. The fucking piano in this song is so good. I can't help but vibe to this song so fucking hard it's so fucking good. It's also not super cut and dry if you know what I mean. It's like... insinuating, which I always prefer over being direct in music. Why do you think All By Myself by Green Day is such a great song? Because it insinuates. Do more of that music. Also by the way if you're listening to this song in public- uhhhh. don't. put headphones on and make sure no one can hear. NSFW. So good though. Great fucking song.

Eddie - SMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG. This is the CATCHIEST fucking song on planet earth holy fuck I can't help myself but sing this fucking song. It's so fucking good. This is honestly going to be #3 for me just because I can't help but dance to this song at work, it's just so catchy. That saxophone is so fucking good. It's so catchy and holy fuck, has anyone here seen Ed's World? Shoutout to you Ed Gould. May you rest in peace, king. Holy fuck the chorus gets stuck in my head all the fucking time. So fucking good.

Rose Tint My World - SMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THIS IS IT FOR ME. This is my favourite song on the album. Going to break this up into the 3 parts below.

Part a. Floor Show - This is like the climax of the film and so of course they needed to have an absolute banger Jesus of Suburbia to end it all off on. I LOVE the fact that all the actors and actresses get involved in this song. Everyone gets their chance to shine. Only one problem- Rocky sounds MUCH better in the movie. Oh well besides that, this is easily my favourite song on the entire soundtrack. FUCK this makes me fucking laugh it's so fucking good.

Part b. Fanfare/Don't Dream It - Holy fuck shoutout to TIM CURRY BABY. Holy fuck do I love the way he sings. He just has so much... I can't describe it. His voice is PERFECT in this song and basically the entire musical. I can't say enough good things about this fucking song, it's so fucking good and I never want this shit to end. Don't dream it, be it- holy fuck I need to use that in my life. AHAHAHAAHHA and holy fuck what a great joke that the dude in the wheelchair has sexy legs. Shoutout to you Dr. Scott. Holy FUCK, that's hilarious.

Part c. Wild and Untamed Thing - LET'S FUCKING GO BABY. MY MY MY MUH MUH MY MY MY. HOLY FUCK LITERALLY THE MOST JAMMY FUCKING SONG ON PLANET EARTH. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE ENERGY IN THIS SONG. IT'S SO GOD DAMN GOOD. I can't help but jam the fuck out to this song. Shoutout to the sexy ass saxophone solo. AHAHAHAAHAHA FUCK I FORGOT RIFF RAFF WAS IN THIS SONG, HOLY FUCK IT'S HILARIOUS. I nearly burst out laughing at work- totally forgot Riff Raff is at the end of this song. Absolutely hilarious.

I'm Going Home - SMMAAAAASSHHHHHH. Holy fuck the most HEARTBREAKING song in the movie and on the musical album. It's a moral dilemma for this song because Dr. Frankenfurter is kind of a bad guy, so this is like a sad song for the villain. Shoutout to you Tim Curry, what a musical fucking genius, absolutely S tier voice I fucking love him so god damn much.

Super Heroes - Smash. Heartbreaking ending to the musical and film, but perfect in it's own way. The party is over, sad times here. Holy fuck I love you Susan, she has a great voice. Super sad to hear but a great song to end it all off.

Science Fiction/Double Feature (Reprise) - Smash. Holy fuck this went by way too quick. No real need to review this song, this is basically the same as the opening track, it's just for the credits section. So fucking good though holy fuck. What an absolute masterpiece by Richard O'Brien, seriously- give this movie a watch. I can't recommend it more.

Conclusion

Yeah, this was a weird review. But the fact that I'm so passionate about it should show you that you NEED to watch this movie. It's a great film, and it will make ZERO sense but after watching a couple times you kind of get sucked in and start to try and research the movie and what it's about, and then finally everything clicks right in place and you understand everything. Also for the ranking below, don't look too deep into it because I'm comparing this to other punk rock albums so like... the ranking doesn't REALLY matter honestly. The show is made up and the points don't matter.

RANK: B+

What are your guys thoughts? Do you think I'm out of my fucking mind? Is this just a prank to you? Huh??? You know what to do, leave the thoughts below.
